Problem, Need, or Opportunity

Dog owners of San Diego will use this website for locating dog friendly beaches, parks, restaurants and more throughout San Diego. Because San Diego includes several counties, this website will offer several suggestions of dog friendly locations specific to each county. This form of multimedia will help residents and/or visitors become aware of the free exercise opportunities for dogs in their area.

Audience

The main audience of my website will be dog owners of San Diego.  The secondary audience will be potential dog owners, those that are considering getting a dog and are curious about dog friendly areas near their home. Also, tourists who bring their dog on vacation will be interested in places they can bring their dog in San Diego.

Users Needs

I have talked with a few fellow dog owners about what they would want to see on a website about dog friendly areas in San Diego. They mentioned the following:

·         Information on what each park, beach, pet store, and restaurant has to offer ;including clean-up bags, water fountains, or hoses to rinse off their dog.

·         A description of the type of people that would be at each location. The demographic and age group of people can differ depending on the location. For example, Ocean Beach Dog Park has a much younger crowd compared to the Del Mar Dog Beach.

·         A reference on what parks and beaches are better for little dogs and for big dogs.

·         Rules and regulations of the parks, restaurants, pet stores, and beaches.

Instead of organizing the information by type of location such as beaches, parks, etc. the links at the top of my page will be referring to the different counties in San Diego. North County, East County, South County, Downtown, and Coronado will all have thorough descriptions of places in each county where you can take your dog on a “date” for the day.

Environment

The user will probably be accessing my site from their home computer on their day off. Researching places to take their dog will probably occur on the users’ weekend as a leisure activity. There will be no need for the latest and greatest computer technology as my site will only have pictures of fellow dogs along with the amenities at each location. No audio will be necessary as I feel it will be distracting to the reader.

Resources and Limitations

All text for my site will be written by me after visiting each dog friendly location. While this might seem like a daunting task, I have owned a dog in San Diego for the past two years, and have visited most of the locations in East County and Downtown already. I look forward to visiting, researching, and reporting on new places to take my dog in San Diego. All pictures on the site will be taken by me, so there will be no copyright issues.

General Solution

This website will allow dog owners of San Diego to gain knowledge about dog friendly locations in their area. Each link will provide at least five locations to bring your dog according to region in San Diego. A small description of each spot will include the amenities provided, the demographic of dog owners, and map directions.
